Samsung refrigerators generate noise

1 Make sure items inside the refrigerator have enough space and are not touching, especially glass items.

2 Turn off the Ice Maker if the refrigerator is not connected to a water line.

3 Keep the refrigerator at least 2 inches away from the wall to reduce vibration noise.

Common Samsung refrigerator noises and meanings

Bubbling sound (Normal)

  • Caused by refrigerant gas moving through the system during cooling.

Cracking or popping sound (Normal)

  • Happens when internal parts expand or contract due to temperature changes.

Buzzing sound (Normal)

  • Comes from the compressor during operation.
  • May also occur briefly after using the water dispenser.

Beeping sound (Normal)

  • Indicates the door is open or not fully closed.
  • Check for obstructions or dirty door seals.

Rattling sound

  • May be caused by loose screws or an unlevel refrigerator.
  • Adjust leveling if doors are uneven.
  • Frost buildup may block fans and create noise.

Snapping sound (Normal)

  • Occurs when the dispenser chute closes after use.

Humming or clicking sound (Normal)

  • Happens when the ice maker fills with water.

Loud banging sound (Normal)

  • Occurs when ice cubes drop into the ice bucket.

Fluttering noise (Normal)

  • Happens when the compressor stops after reaching the set temperature.

Notes

  • Most refrigerator noises are normal during operation.
  • Noise may vary depending on usage and environment.
  • If noise is unusually loud or continuous, service may be required.

5)    Rattling Sound

• If the door of the Refrigerator is recently being removed, the hinge bolts or hinge cover screws may be loose

• Make sure the Refrigerator is Level: If the freezer door is lower than the Refrigerator door, insert a common (flat-head) screwdriver in a slot of the control lever on the freezer side and turn it clockwise

When the freezer door is lower than the Refrigerator door

• If the freezer door is higher than the Refrigerator door, insert a common (flat-head) screwdriver in a slot of the control lever on the Refrigerator side and turn it clockwise

When the freezer door is higher than the Refrigerator door

• If there is significant frost accumulation in the freezer, it may obstruct the free operation of the fans which could produce a rattling noise  

 

6)    Snapping Sound
Symptom: normal

This noise will be heard about 4 seconds after removing glass from a dispenser due to the dispenser chute closing.

 

7)    A hum or Click Noise
Symptom: Normal

It can be heard when the icemaker fills with water.

 

8)    Loud Banging Noise
Symptom: Normal

It can be heard when the ice maker dumps ice cubes into the ice bucket

 

9)    Fluttering Noise
Symptom: Normal

When the unit reaches the set temperature, the compressor stops operating causing the fluttering noise.
