Great device I bought for my PlayStation 5 and it's worked flawlessly since installing it 2 months ago. I love how fast it can read and write files to and from the hard drive. I can literally transfer a 150 GB game in maybe 2 mins if not less. I really like the product and am glad I got this one. I didn't know which brand to choose so I just stick to my belief that when in doubt always trust or choose Samsung as a brand because they're the most innovative and make the best products and they didn't miss the mark with this SSD either just like I expected, great quality and advanced product that smoothly runs faster than a bullet when I need it!

We bought in Dec 2024 the 990 pro 2tb Heatsink version for our PS5. After installing the drive, a few minutes later the PS5 started crashing randomly. We removed the drive immediately but the PS5 continues to crash which we never experienced before and we have the console for years. After reading more about this drive, it is clear that it needs a firmware update. So now we need to find an external ssd docking that will work with ssd-s with heatsink and also with the Samsung magician software which seems to be another challenge. I have always been a Samsung fan but this experience is highly disappointing..

This drive is a piece of junk and Samsung's support for them is even worse. I bought 2 of them for my Alienware R15 system. One for the boot drive and one for the gaming drive. Randomly one or the other drive would just disappear completely from the system until I fully powered it down. If the boot drive disappeared the computer would completely crash. If the gaming drive disappeared I would get booted out of whatever game I was playing. Samsung did attempt to replace the drive after numerous calls, and emails and finally a email to corporate. But it seems that didn't solve the issue. Ended up purchasing a different brand gaming NVME drive and have been rock solid since.

I've had the Samsung 990 Pro SSD with heatsink for two months now, I have been really satisfied with this SSD. I use it as an OS drive but also for gaming, my computer now boots up super fast and the game loading screens don't take eternity like it used to. I got the heatsink version because my only m.2 slot is under my graphics card on my motherboard, so I was concerned that it might overheat. The heatsink keeps the temperatures in a good range so I don't have to worry about it. I'm using it with a PCI-e 3.0 motherboard, since I haven't upgraded my system yet, it works great with backwards compatibility. I haven't had any problems with it. I recommend it to those looking for a good SSD.

I'm using the 2TB 990 PRO with the heatsink installed, I’ve spent a lot of time recently tweaking my settings and hardware to get the smoothest experience possible for my games, and swapping to the Samsung 990 PRO was the best decision I’ve made for my rig. ​The difference in load times is honestly night and day—I’m getting into matches faster than ever, and I’ve had zero issues with stuttering or lag, even during long gaming sessions. I was also really impressed by how well it handles heat; my system stays stable and cool even when I’m pushing it hard. It’s been rock-solid reliable, which is exactly what I need!! If you're on the fence about upgrading your storage, DO IT!!. It’s a game-changer.

This is a great SSD! The speeds are blazing fast so you get short loading times in games ans also if you're moving big file sizes. It will work with any modern CPU from the last few years as well, which is a good thing! You have pretty good storage size options depending on your budget and needs as well! The heatsink does a great job at keeping it cool even under demanding tasks! And the new Samsung magician app has an easy to use interface where you can update the firmware, check the health and also the temps of the SSD! All in all it's a great product!

Definitely worth my every dollar spent. I purchased my Samasung 990 PRO w/ Heatsink 2 TB SSD NVMe™ M.2 through their official website, original price at release. I used it to upgrade my Ps5 then swapped to my PS5 Pro's system. I am to this day extremely happy and satisfied with this internal ssd upgrade. I can smoothly fit a large portion of my personal game library, including large games, and accessing them all at super quick speeds. Haven't had any issues or performance hiccups to this day!!. I can feel the top quality definitely worth my it 👌

Super easy to install in my PS5. Removing the cover(s) of the PS5 made me aware of the fact that you need to vacuum and/or blow out the dust from time to time. :| The system recognized the 990 pro immediately upon starting. Formatting was very quick and seamless. I now have an extra 2tb and don’t need to remove games when I download a new one or have to perform a large update. Loading times seem to be comparable to system storage. So far so good. Quite pleased with my purchase. Now I wish I would have splurged for the 4tb. :/

Have it installed in my PS5 for almost 2 years now. The red & black heatsink design with RBG lighting is a badads futuristic design that belongs in a pS5 or PC. Not only I have more storage, I notice its faster than the PS5's ssd internal storage.🤯 I've be playing Bo6 and Gran Turismo 7 during long game sessions I haven't notice a single stutter nor lag it. For those who are in the market for an storage upgrade for their PS5 or PC I highly recommend to choose a Samsung SDD storage over the competitors.

I grew tired of having to play what amounts to musical chairs with the games installed on my Playstation 5, buying the 990 PRO w/ Heatsink (if you are buying an SSD expansion for the PS5 the heatsink is necessary) was a great idea. I have been able to enjoy having more games installed and not having to uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, reinstall games when I choose to play something different. The speed in loading, moving, copying or otherwise moving game files around is also tremendously fast.

Was a tech in the Marines, worked for Perot, IBM & Dell. Been evaluating Microsoft software for almost 30 years - and have built & support all the computers (gaming & other) my family use, all over the world. The Samsung 980 & 990 Pro series are always my #1 recommendation when helping someone or doing a build. They're fast, reliable and have great apps & support. Nit sure why I would ever switch. As a disabled Marine Vet, I will still insist on these products - whenever I can afford them!

I have found that the Samsung magician app is also very helpful for diagnostics and drive info. DO NOT USE BITLOCKER WITH THIS. The drive supports hardware encryption which is faster, more secure, but a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE pain to set up once you start using the drive. So don't do as I did and have to reimage your machine. Set up encryption before doing anything else.

I bought this to use in my Asus ROG Laptop and could. Ot be happier. This SSD has exc excellent read and write speeds. My laptop boots right up and software loads quickly. Games run great and have fast load times. This best PCe NVMe SSD I have ever owned. I recomend that anyone with PCIe 1.4 slot buy a Samsung 990 Pro with Heatsink. The heatsink keeps the drive running at low temperatures. This was 5th Samsung SSD I bought. Samsung makes the fastest and most reliable SSD's.

Sehr schnell. Hälz aber nicht lang. Läuft aber selbst mit Kühler deutlich heisser als eine vergleichbar schnelle wd sn850x. Ich habe mir im April privat als auch im Juli geschäftlich im Büro die 2TB Variante bestellt. Die im Büro lief sie in einem Buildserver und starb nach etwas über einer Woche den plötzlichen Tod. Meine privates Exemplar starb gestern Abend beim Browsen. In beiden Fällen ohne Ankündigung von S.M.A.R.T Fehlern sehr spontaner und kompletter Ausfall.

This product is great. Not one problem since I installed it. Blistering speeds, runs cool compared to older products. Make sure to install latest edition of samsung magician to benchmark and test this drive. Magician keeps it updated and running smoothly and efficiently. I installed it as my only drive on a asus tuf gaming x570-pro running windows 11 pro and using only a boot disk to install the OS did not have any problems at all. No compatibility issues at all.

Works great! I've never had a problem with any Samsung product. From phones to SD cards to SSD's. You get what you pay for, most of the time. I'm not sure that I needed the heatsink on a 4.0 but the next gen 5.0 is going to need then for sure. If you can afford the 2TB get it! Even if you don't think you'll need it. It has an extra gig of DRAM, and for day to day use you will notice all those 500 meg to over 2 gig file transfers you do are almost instantaneous..

Have used this installed onto my PS5, but I’m really looking forward to pairing an 8TB SSD with these reading & writing speeds instead! I have no complaints from using this for additional capacity collecting video games cache data. Every game loads files/data symmetrically, fairly symmetrically when playing respectively online, and correctly every time. No other brand’s do I trust to house memory with Sony: Samsung does it right & better every time!

I am content with the performance of my C drive. It operates swiftly, and its 2TB capacity is ideal for running virtual machines with virtual disks stored on the drive. I am highly pleased with the Samsung 990 Pro as my system drive. However, I encountered a minor issue as my motherboard has its own SSD heatsinks, and the drive could not fit with the factory heatsink installed. Therefore, I had to remove the heatsink to ensure proper fitment.

990Pro nvme ssd 2Tb. Real pain to clone and install in laptop. Samsung's Magician software is UNABLE to access the ssd from a usb adaptor. It has to be mounted in a laptop but if you only have one drive slot available you CANT clone your existing drive to it! You need a bootable flash drive to run windows from, then use cloning software. Some narcissistic Korean mid level manager is saying my hassle is not a correct use case.

Well priced when I got it, very fast, very reliable and long lasting of course it has good storage, I love the features in the software. Only complaints are that there is less support for the amd platfrom and the heatsink has an untoggleable red led which is a nuisance for me but may not matter to others. As far as thermals, this one comes with its own heatsink but id rather have one than not, its got a very strong style.

I needed more storage on my Playstation 5, so I spent a couple days comparing devices. And after those couple of days, I picked the Samsung 990 w/ Heatsink 2 TB. It was my first time installing anything like this but it was very easy to install the memory card. Playstation 5 recognize it upon start-up. I love this memory card. It was great until it outright crashed and messed up my whole PC. had it installed for about a year and never had any problems. One day I played a game for about 2 hours and then walked away. When I came back my computer was on bios because my boot device was not listed. It just died out of nowhere, and no I did not have heat issues. No part of my PC ever went over 35 degrees celsius.

I have been very happy with thr 990 pro which provides the best bang for thr buck amd eye watering performance. Transferring large files and game load times are noticeably faster. I also liked the Samsung magician software. I have the heatsink model and the temps always stayed below 80C Also the firmware has been fixed with these newer ssds that was causing premature degradation

I Brought the 2tb version for asus rog G14. I had gor the 4060 base variant only had 512 gigs of storage... wanted to upgrade anf this was the best choice. I use this ssd on my PS5 tje writing and reading speeds are amazing great for gaming with performance boosted games, HOWEVER the dimentions of the ssd card are BEARLY compatible (lengthwise) and almost doesnt fit on the slot other than that, amazing performance, no overheating nor fails to recognize files nor launch 4K games at 60 fps or 1440p games at 120 fps

This SSD is by far the fastest I've owned to date. I grew up watching the Internet be born, dial up days. To think then that we would have exceptional speed and stability like this in just 3 decades, it would've been so outrageous. It formatted well got over 6,500 read speed and an extra two terrabytes of storage and am now able to run games at 4k resolution.The heat sink really helps cause my ps5 would overheat easily and now i havent had it happen once with the help of cleaning the fan and the ssd

Great SSD but lacks in overall read/write speeds. Samsung magician bench tests show speeds of 7600mbps on both read and write but true tests show much less. The ssd wouldnt hit anything over 700mbps. I love samsung products but for the price I paid, I am very disappointed. It stays around 44c under load.

Amazing solid state drive, this is probably one of the best I've ever used and still used to this day. I wont be switching anytime soon, downloads are lighting fast and on top of that I'm also running my OS off of it aswell!

I got this as a Christmas gift for my ps5 and I can't begin to say how happy I am with this SSD card I was thinking about to get WD brand instead because most of my friends got it but after using this I am very happy with it

I have two of these, one for my PS5 and one for my PC. These SSDs have had no problems since I bought them about a year and a half ago. Really good product, especially for gaming, with no data loss and fast transfer rates.

I bought this SSD about six months ago. It slid right into my motherboard without any issues (the motherboard heatsink needs to remain off) and it looks great and works even better. 2TB is the sweet spot for memory.

I have had this NVME for over a year now and I couldn't be happier with it. I have tried other brands and in comparison the 990 pro is not only faster but also runs around 10 degrees cooler while under load.

The best pcie 4.0 nvme SSD on the market by far. It has amazing specs that match what's stated on the speed sheet. It's reliable, doesn't get hot and never has issues. It's price is amazing currently.

It was easy to install in my PS5. I now have much more storage that loads extremely fast. It's been great and I recommend if you want to increase your internal storage. Better than an external SSD.

So far this drive has been very reliable and the transfer speeds are fantastic. It's a bit expensive compared to other SSD's on the market, but Samsung memory has not let me down over the years.

I installed this drive since the playstation 5 came out and I install all the games I play on Samsungs drive because Samsungs m.2 2tb ssd is faster in write and reading the drive to this day.

It is a great drive once you have installed everything and downloaded all the applications. However, it was a bit tricky to install it and at first my computer didn't recognize it.

I bought this since I do rendering and software development. This speed is extremely fast, and the support is great. The heatsink also keeps it cool, since it does get a bit hot.

It is very fast. I store alot of videos and games on it and run them simultaneously, it doesn't feel laggy at all. I had no over heat issues. The only issue it is very expensive

Runs very cool for me, as long as your system is well ventilated and cooled i really don't think this one needs a heatsink. Hasn't gotten above 56 degrees for me so far
