Ever notice lingering images on your screen after binge-watching your favorite show or having an intense gaming marathon? While OLED displays offer unparalleled picture quality, this issue can potentially occur. However, this comprehensive guide will help you troubleshoot burn-in and image retention on your Samsung OLED TV so you can restore that pristine picture quality.
Due to the unique characteristics of OLED displays, it's important to be aware of potential screen burn-in or image retention when displaying static images for a prolonged period of time.
However, your Samsung OLED TV includes advanced features that will maintain the display's optimal performance and stunning visuals.
These include Pixel Shift, Auto Logo Brightness, and Pixel Refresh.
Pixel Shift is designed to minimize the risk of screen burn-in by automatically refreshing and moving the pixels on the screen while also preventing static images from causing long-term damage.
When Pixel Shift is enabled, you may notice that the edges of images move slightly beyond the screen's borders. This is normal and not a defect. You have the option to disable Pixel Shift if needed.
Note: To prevent screen burn-in when viewing content containing static images, it is recommended to turn on Pixel Shift.
Auto Logo Brightness automatically adjusts and reduces the brightness in areas where continuously displayed logos, program names, or news captions appear.
This helps to prevent screen burn-in and ensures a consistent viewing experience when fixed images are displayed.
Choosing High will further reduce the screen's brightness.
Lastly, you can enable Pixel Refresh if you notice signs of image retention on the screen.
This will adjust the pixels and refresh the screen.
Note: This feature may not be supported depending on the model.
To further prevent image retention, your Samsung TV will use a Screen Saver, which is enabled by default.
The Screen Saver will automatically activate when your TV displays the same still image for 2 minutes.
Although you cannot disable the Screen Saver function, you can cancel the current Screen Saver by pressing any button on the remote control except for the Power button.
Note: The Screen Saver may not activate when viewing Live TV or full screen videos, or when using Samsung TV Plus, external inputs or certain apps.
